Ukrainian artillerymen have shown their use of 2S7 “Pion” guns to destroy the enemy.

Militarnyi informs about this.

The video featuring the use of self-propelled guns was published by the Ground Forces of Ukraine.

The video shows how the “Pion” is applied in combat.

2S7 “Pion” is the 203 mm self-propelled artillery.

It is designed to destroy some particularly important objects and demolish fortifications.

The main weapon is a 203-mm 2A44 gun, which has a maximum rate of 1.5 rounds per minute (upgraded to 2.5 rounds per minute).

The barrel of the gun is a free tube connected to the breach.

The piston lock is located inside the breech. The barrel of the gun and recoil devices are inside the cradle of the swinging part.

As a power source, the 2S7 uses a V-shaped 12-cylinder four-stroke B-46-1 diesel engine that is liquid-cooled with a supercharged capacity of 780hp. The B-46-1 diesel engine was created on the basis of the B-46 engine originally installed on T-72 tanks.

The chassis of the 2S7 is made on the basis of the main T-80 tank and consists of seven pairs of double rubberized support and six pairs of single sustaining rollers.

The military showed how they are using these guns in combat.

“Pions” are used by the 43rd Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Taras Tryasyl. It was formed in the fall of 2014 on the basis of the 5th Division of the 26th Separate Artillery Brigade. It is part of the missile forces and artillery of the Ground Forces of Ukraine.

The brigade consists of four 2S7 “Pion” self-propelled artillery divisions, as well as the 209th separate anti-tank artillery division and artillery reconnaissance division.
