George Clooney

Summary

George Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky. George started out life with an entertainment heritage already in his family, with his father Nick having been a game show host and American Movie Classic host, while his aunt Rosemary Clooney was a famous singer.

George's early work included many appearances on television, including E/R (not to be confused with the ER that made him a television name), and longer stints in the TV series The Facts of Life and Roseanne. George's big star making moment came in 1994 as part of the cast of the successful medical drama ER.

While working on ER, George started to take up film work, with his first big role coming in the vampire flick From Dusk Till Dawn. Since leaving ER in 2000, George has gone on to star in several movies, such as Batman and Robin, Three Kings, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and the Ocean's Eleven films. At the 78th annual Academy Awards, Clooney was nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for his work on Good Night, and Good Luck, as well as earning a Best Supporting Actor Award for Syriana. For the 2007 Oscars, Clooney is nominated for Best Actor, for his portrayal of titular character in the legal drama Michael Clayton.
