Another Zapiro cartoon causes outrage
Updated | By The Late Show
Another week. Another offensive Zapiro cartoon.
Well, for some at least.
Cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro has done it again and now faces backlash from thousands of Christians.
Some say he's taken the sacred crucifixion of Jesus for political commentary, personal gain and glorification.
The cartoon released over Easter depicts a figure who resembles Jesus on the crucifix, clad in the colours of the South African flag.
Gwede Mantashe plays the role of Pontius Pilate, the Guptas are portrayed as Roman soldiers making sure he's dead and a shower-headed President Jacob Zuma helping to wash the guilt clean.
Just last week, Zapiro caused offence when he used rape as a violent metaphor.
Satire is supposed to shock, but it seems Zapiro might be going all out to offend the nation.
What are your thoughts on his latest offering?
