Restorative Yoga is a practice that aims to “restore” the body and specifically to balance the nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic). The balance of the nervous system generates well-being. It has its roots in Hatha Yoga, with the master B.K.S. Iyengar.

Restorative yoga calms the nervous system, slows the progress of chronic diseases, and helps in managing physical pain.

In this practice we use props: blankets, pillows, chairs, blocks and straps to support the body and allow us to relax physically and mentally. Many psychophysical pathologies of our society are related to our hectic lifestyle.

Restorative Yoga not only helps in stress management but strengthens the nervous system through the practice and the achievement of a balance suitable to face the rhythms of everyday life. As in Hatha and Yin Yoga, self-listening becomes essential.

Suitable for people suffering from psycho-physical pathologies

Traditionally Restorative Yoga was born as a cure for chronic diseases, however today is suitable for everyone.  Through the practice the stress hormones (cortisol and adrenaline) decreases and we have a chance to better manage anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks and stress.

Moreover, it improves digestion, blood circulation, the reproductive and lymphatic system, and reduces chronic fatigue.

Self-listening and feeling an increase in concentration, self-esteem and creativity are some of the benefits that make it an effective practice even for depression.
