Alexis Bledel is an award-winning actress best known for her roles on Gilmore Girls and The Handmaid’s Tale, amongst many others. Additionally, she has appeared in multiple movies and television shows.

Her acting career started in small roles in several 1998 films including Rushmore. Later she was cast as the main protagonist on Gilmore Girls which ran for seven seasons and eventually made its way back onto television screens worldwide.

Alexis Bledel’s Biography

Kimberly Alexis Bledel was born in Houston, Texas, to a Mexican mother and Argentinian father parents. As she was shy as a child, her mother encouraged her to get involved with community theater. At age seventeen she was approached by a modeling agency that began offering international modeling jobs – she attended Page Parkes Modeling School while also studying at New York University Tisch School of the Arts for one year.

Beginning her professional acting career in 2000 with her role as Rory Gilmore on the WB series of the same name, which ran for seven seasons and earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, she went on to appear in three movies during 2009 including postgraduate comedy Post Grad, crime thriller The Good Guy and Canadian drama The Kate Logan Affair which premiered at Montreal’s Festival du Nouveau Cinema 2010.

In 2012, Bledel found her big break as Beth Dawes on Mad Men and garnered critical acclaim – garnering another Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Later that same year, Bledel appeared in the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale as Ofglen.

In 2010, Bledel appeared alongside James McAvoy and Robin Wright in the historical drama The Conspirator as one of Mary Surratt’s lawyers defending her from American government execution. Although critical and box office disappointment, in 2011 Bledel went on to star in two other movies including the crime drama The Constant and the romantic flick Violet & Daisy.

Alexis Bledel made her mark as one of the stars of Gilmore Girls, becoming known for her sharp tongue and sharp remarks. Additionally, she is an accomplished actress who has taken several notable film roles; most notably Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt which follows an adventurous teenage girl as she finds an immortal family living nearby her home.

Kimberly Alexis Bledel grew up in an environment in which both her mother spoke Spanish and her father from Argentina were present. She attended Page Parkes modeling school in Houston, modeling for local and international fashion houses before being discovered by a talent scout at a shopping mall talent spotter and eventually enrolling at New York University to study acting, but only studied there for one year until landing her breakthrough role on Gilmore Girls.

After seven years on Gilmore Girls, Alexis Bledel continues her acting career with various projects. She made an appearance in the Netflix miniseries revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life as well as being a recurring character on Mad Men and appearing in several films like Sisterhood of Traveling Pants and The Handmaid’s Tale.

While Bledel was often depicted on Gilmore Girls as an avid reader, her tastes tend to be more restrained. She enjoys architecture and watching home renovation shows; in fact, she even runs her own real estate company called Home Made Simple with Amber Tamblyn and America Ferrera from Gilmore Girls!

Alexis Bledel’s Acting Career

Alexis Bledel made her mark as an actress with Amy Sherman-Palladino’s hit series Gilmore Girls when she landed the part of Rory Gilmore despite never having previously appeared in anything else. With dedication and perseverance, she became one of America’s beloved actors for future generations.

At 41 years old, she remains active in the acting world. Over her long career in TV shows and films – from franchises such as Tuck Everlasting and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to her role of Ofglen in hit series like The Handmaid’s Tale – she has appeared in multiple roles and gained great acclaim in Hollywood.

Bledel began her career modeling, appearing on magazine covers. Bledel made her film debut in Tuck Everlasting (2002), a Disney fantasy adventure film based on Natalie Babbitt’s novel of the same name. The plot revolves around three girls linked by an old pair of jeans; Bledel plays Winnie Foster – an awkward girl who prefers hiding out in the woods near her family estate.

After appearing in several small-screen series such as an American adaptation of the British comedy Gavin & Stacey and Katherine Heigl’s romantic comedy Jenny’s Wedding, Bledel turned her focus more toward feature films. She co-starred alongside Amber Tamblyn and Blake Lively in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2006) as artist Lena Kaligaris; this was later reprised in its sequel.

Bledel has reached new levels of recognition through her work on The Handmaid’s Tale. Its debut season was both critical and commercial success, and Bledel earned many plaudits for her portrayal of rebellious Handmaid Ofglen – she excels in portraying this complex character whose obedience often masks desires of change or rebellion which are shown through close-ups and her eyes alone – one of Bledel’s finest performances to date.

After 15 years since The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants first premiered in 2005, its cast – Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn, and America Ferrera–have managed to keep their friendship alive despite time apart and sequel film releases. Based on Ann Brashares’ best-selling novel about four lifelong best friends who discover one pair of jeans that fits them all and decide to share them among themselves throughout their first summer apart from each other.

Bledel began her career by appearing as young Rory in Gilmore Girls (WB, 2000-2007) opposite Lauren Graham and quickly rose to stardom. Since then she has continued her success, appearing in films such as Tuck Everlasting and playing roles that demonstrate her diversity as an actress – most notably Ofglen in The Handmaid’s Tale on TV.

After Gilmore Girls came to an end, Bledel returned to film by appearing in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and its 2008 sequel. These iconic movies depicting Bridget, Lena, Tibby, and Carmen’s close bond have since become classics; Tamblyn recently posted an endearing message reminding fans that their relationship remained stronger than ever.

Decades have passed since their last filming together, yet the sisters recently reunited in New York City for Tamblyn’s directorial debut of Paint It Black – shot over 21 days – an indie film that features them as women whose lives are upended when an event happens in their small town. Although it remains to be seen whether future Sisterhood reunions will happen, Bledel, Lively, Tamblyn, and Ferrera remain close and friendly towards one another.
