In a room filled with fall-tinted trees, guests were served wood platters packed with earthy delicacies such as grasshopper-topped aebleskiver and ants spruced up with garlic and rose oil, though Timberlake later assured the crowd they weren’t real insects. The real highlight, however, was the “Filthy” singer playing his new album Man of the Woods in its entirety to eager American Express-cardholding fans and members of the press. Dressed in an outfit appropriate for a stroll in the woods—camo pants, a fleece-lined jean jacket, and a red beanie hat—the bearded singer introduced his new album with excitement and pride. “This is a really special record for me,” he said. “I found out my son’s name Silas means man of the woods, so that really inspired the album. I hope you like it.” The record was then blasted for all to hear at what Timberlake described an “unspeakable volume.” Beginning with divisive first single “Filthy,” listeners were treated to a range of songs that varied from psychedelic pop, including new single “Supplies” (the video for which dropped Thursday morning), to country-tinged tunes like “Say Something,” which features Timberlake’s pal Chris Stapleton. As the latter song played, Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel took a moment to slow dance and kiss. Other notable entries include the uptempo “Sauce” and titular track “Man of the Woods.” Celebrities such as Dianna Agron, Garrett Hedlund, Theodora and Alexandra Richards, and Charlamagne Tha God were also in attendance. Man of the Woods is out Feb. 2, two days before the singer takes over the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 4.
