Lifetime's 'The Omen'-inspired series 'Damien' moves to A&E

It’s all for you Damien! Or at least it will be soon, as A&E Network announced Wednesday that it is now premiering its new drama series based on the classic horror film The Omen, named for the creepy little boy himself on A&E instead of Lifetime.

Damien, an hour-long scripted drama from Fox 21 Television Studios with executive producer Glen Mazzara, will have a 10-episode season on A&E, up from the initial six-episode straight to series order it was given by Lifetime.

According to Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President & General Manager, A&E and Lifetime, A&E is the ideal channel for the show due to the network’s success with their hit series Bates Motel, “which so perfectly aligns with Damien.”

The series follows Bradley James (Merlin, Homeland) as Damien Thorn, the mysterious little boy from the 1976 film The Omen who has grown up pretty much unaware of the satanic forces at work around him. But once he is haunted by his past, Damien has to come to terms with the truth—that he is in fact the Antichrist.

Oscar-nominee Barbara Hershey (Once Upon a Time) stars as Ann Rutledge, the most powerful woman in the world who is tasked with making sure Damien fulfills his dark destiny. Omid Abtahi (Better Call Saul) portrays Amani Golkar, a close colleague of Damien’s whose fierce loyalty to Damien is tested when he realizes who he actually is. Megalyn Echikunwoke (House of Lies) will play Simone Baptiste, a woman whose life becomes chaotic when tragedy unexpectedly strikes her.
