Croatian musician Saša Antić, who is one of the leaders and founders of the Split group TBF, has been building his career for years under the pseudonym Alejuandro Buendija, and last weekend he presented the new single "Turtle". It is the tenth of thirteen songs from the new album "Škrinja", and the musician Fog Frog Dog joined him in it.
It's the title single in which Saša dissects the current social situation, and as a conclusion he deduces the fact that in the surrealism of the moment we are in, it is best to relax as if we are "sailing on the back of a turtle".
“The song came about this spring on an intergalactic cruise I went on thanks to a friend who gave me his coupon he got from the Elohim Council. Darkness was playing the piano in a bar on a turtle, and Frog had come on assignment from the Space Institute as one of the most experienced turtle whisperers, given that a slight deviation from the trajectory had been observed. We spent several evenings hanging out at the bar and singing a song dedicated to the turtle, that wonderful and selfless creature without which we would not have gotten anywhere. In a few days, Frog landed on Marsot, where he continued his research on the Big Bang, while Mrak returned to Earth, where he breeds black sheep in an unknown location," says Saša about the song.
The album "Škrinja", which will soon be presented to the public, was created during the quarantine. The social theme prevails on the album through superb lyrics and a lot of black humor, and we are talking about songs that were created in the last five years.
"The quarantine actually helped me finish the songs I had already started, and a few new ones happened, I don't think I would have finished the album if it hadn't happened in 2020, because TBF does most of the gigs in the summer. Right now we are really in hibernation, one after the other, the next two or three crucial weeks and unfortunately nothing is happening in terms of gigs, the organizers are confused and scared. I hope that the situation will normalize soon", reveals Antić, who himself said in interviews for Croatian media that he received help from the state during the pandemic, because his profession is one of the hardest hit by this crisis.
He says about the new solo album:
"The chest was created simply. I wanted to realize some musical ideas in styles I haven't ventured into before and I'm happy with how it turned out. Also, on several songs, I worked harder than usual on the interpretation and aimed for the right shade of emotion", emphasizes Saša Antić.
