Were you aware that B. G. Walker presents herself as an opponent of "superstition" in some of the most recent (late 2000s/early 2010s) interviews? I'm starting to wonder if she's a cynical grifter who posed as an enthusiast of "goddess mysteries" when it was profitable but switched to some sort of new atheist-esque act in the 2000s... It would explain about the uniquely awful character of Woman's Encyclopedia I feel.

You know, I never really looked into Walker herself that much.

Hey, she’s 1993’s Humanist Heroine! How can we argue with that. And what I’m assuming is her latest book (Belief & Unbelief) has a collection of “amazing” copy on the back cover:

Here we see the anti-religion act. Sheesh, the name of that Islam essay. But I love that they used pull quotes for the Woman’s Encyclopedia instead of anything relating to this probably piece of shit book. Grifters gonna grift, even when they are over 90 years old.

lostpeace said: TBH I’m not very surprised by this. In the Woman’s Encyclopedia entry for theology she practically disparages the entire field of study, and she clearly never had any real respect for any of the cultures she talks about in her godawful books.
