Stubbe Springs, Joshua Tree

Grand view points and usually a bit of wind, this is a classic backcountry hike in the Mojave Desert area of Joshua Tree NP. Be prepared for stretches of trudging through sandy washes. The short out-and-back detour to the Fan Canyon Overlook is worth it for most hikers because of the view of the 4600’ elevation drop into the Coachella Valley.  You probably won’t want to go dancing after this hike!

The hike is within Joshua Tree Park, entrance fee required. Park at the Juniper Flat lot near the junction of Keys View Road and Juniper Flats Road. There is no cell service at the meet location.

13 Miles with an Elevation gain of 1200 ft.
