Aircraft History
The Javelin was a delta wing all weather fighter used by the Royal Air Force between 1956 and 1968. It was designed by George Carter at the Gloster Aircraft Company and first flew in 1951. It was powerd by two Bristol Siddeley Sapphire axial flow jet engines. During the 1960s the Javelin was used by RAF squadrons at Singapore during the 'Confrontation' with Indonesia.
Model History
This 1:32 scale model of a Gloster Javelin was commissioned by the Museum and built by Mr R.D. Ramsay in 1956. It is painted in representative RAF markings.
Physical Description
Wooden model aeroplane painted grey and green camoflage with two air intakes at front and jets at rear with black nose cone.
