Abstract

A device for distributing rosin on hair of bows of violins and the like comprising a main body (2) having a generally elongated shape and provided with a concave seat (3) from which a distribution of bristles (5) emerges.

Description

"DEVICE FOR APPLYING OF PITCH ON ARCHES OF VIOLINS AND
RELATED"
Technical sector
The invention relates to a device for applying and distributing rosin . on the hair of bows for violins and musical string instruments in general.
Prior art
It is known that the application of rosin to the hair of bows is necessary for bestowing proper friction between hair and strings and obtaining the desired musical effect. In the current state of the art, rosin is applied by passing a block of rosin directly on the hair.
Some systems of a known type envisage the use of applicators for facilitating the operation and for enabling a uniform consumption of the block of rosin.
Examples of this type are known, for instance, from the document No. US530946.
Systems of application of a known type leave, however, unsolved the main problem linked to proper application of the rosin, i.e., its uniform distribution along the hair, in order to prevent differences in response of the instrument according to the portion of hair that touches the strings.
A further drawback is represented by the fact that with systems of a known type the rosin does not adhere to the new hair, which can be used satisfactorily only after some days .
Purpose of the invention
The purpose of the present invention it is to provide a device that enables better and faster adhesion of the rosin to the hair, even if the hair is new, and thus overcome the drawbacks of the solutions already known.
Summary of the invention
The above purposes have been achieved by creating a device for distributing rosin according to at least one of the annexed claims.
A first advantage lies in the fact that a uniform distribution of the rosin along the bow is obtained.
A further advantage lies in the constructional simplicity and simplicity of use of the device.
List of drawings
The above and further advantages will be better understood by any person skilled in the branch from the ensuing description and the annexed drawings, which are provided by way of non-limiting example and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, brought up to a bow for a violin or the like;
Figure 2 is a front view of the device of Figure 1; and
Figure 3 shows a preferred embodiment of the invention .
Detailed description
With reference to the annexed drawings, a device 1 is described for distributing rosin on hair of bows of violins and the like according to the invention.
In the preferred embodiment described herein, the device comprises a main body 2 of a generally elongated shape, in the example illustrated parallelepipedal, made, for example, of wood or some other material suitable for use.
The body 2 defines a concave seat 3 from which a distribution of bristles 5, of a natural or synthetic type, emerges.
Preferably, the seat 3 is delimited by a base 7 of the body 2 and by two side walls 8 emerging from the base 7.
In a preferred embodiment, the bristles 5 are applied to a slide 4 that is able to slide in a self-concealed way in the main body 2 with respect to the seat 3.
In use, the device 1 is brought up to the hair 6 of a bow 9, previously treated with application of rosin or other resin, so as to get the hair to enter the seat 3 in contact with the bristles 5.
In an alternative embodiment, it is also possible to distribute powdered rosin on the bristles 3 prior to their application on the hair.
The device is then displaced repeatedly along the bow in such a way as to "sweep" the hair and distribute the rosin uniformly thereon.
Advantageously, the concave shape of the seat 3 enables an optimal grip of the hand of the user on the walls 8, and the elongated shape of the body 2 in turn enables an effective sweeping action.
A particular advantage is bestowed by the use of the solution with slide 4, which is able to slide, for example, on a linear guide 10, which once extracted (see dashed line of Figure 1) enables the user to insert the slide 4 between the hair 6 and the bow 9 to pass the device also on the side of the hair that faces the bow, which would otherwise be difficult to reach.
With this solution an optimal effect of distribution of the rosin along the entire length of the hair is obtained and hence a uniform behaviour of the hair on the strings of the instrument .
Illustrated in Figure 3 is a preferred embodiment of the guide 10 of the slide 4, defined by a rounded shape of the sides 12 of the slide, which slides in a corresponding concave seat 13 of the body 2.
With this solution, in addition to obtaining regular sliding of the slide, any possible roughness thereof can be prevented from damaging the bow 9.
The present invention has been described according to preferred embodiments, but equivalent variants may be devised, without thereby departing from the sphere of protection granted.
