1 Claim. (Cl. 15-105) This invention relates to improvements in shampoo devices and is directed more particularly to a shampoo device including a container for shampoo material and a shampoo brush.

The principal objects of the invention are the provision of a shampoo device which includes a container for dispensing shampoo liquid and a brush releasably carried thereby so that the user may, in shampooing, apply shampoo material and employ the brush for the shampooing of said hair.

As a special feature of the invention, the brush of the invention is releasably associated with the container and of novel form so that it may be used independently of the container.

All of the above objects I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangements of parts thereof, as will fully appear by a perusal of the description below and by various specific features which will be hereinafter set forth.

To the above cited and other ends and with the foregoing and various other novel features and advantages and other objects of my invention as will become more readily apparent as the description proceeds, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more particularly pointed out in the claim hereunto annexed and more fully described and referred to in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:

Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a shampoo device embodying the novel features of the invention; and

Fig. 2 is an isometric view of the brush component of the device shown in Fig. 1.

Referring now to the drawings more in detail, the in vention will be fully described.

A container is represented by 2 which in the form of the invention being disclosed is rectangular in shape having forward and rear sides 4 and 6, opposite ends 8, and top and bottom walls and 12.

The container has an upper neck 14 secured thereto which is provided with a closure or cap 16 hinged thereto at 18.

In the preferred form of the invention shown, the container or bottle 2 will be formed from plastic material such as polyethylene or the like, and the neck and cap will be formed from some similar material so that the cap 16 may be swung on the hinge 18 from the closed position shown to an open position for dispensing of the contents of the container.

The brush component of the shampoo device represented by 20 includes a bristle back portion 22 having angularly disposed upper and lower transverse wall por tions 24 and 26 which terminate in upper and lower lips 28 and 30 which extend towards one another.

The upper wall portion 24 and lip 28 of the brush will be provided with a recess 32 to receive the neck of the container when assembled therewith as in Fig. 1.

The back portion 22 and associated lips and walls will be formed from plastic material which is relatively stifi and spring-like so that it will hold its shape but Will permit relative spreading of the wall portions 24 and 26.

In removing the brush from the container the portions 24 and 26 are spread apart to permit the lips 28 and 30 sliding over the top and bottom of the container and being of spring-like material the walls will assume the position of Fig. 2 when removed from the container. When the back is placed on the container, the portions 22, 24, 26, 28 and 30 snugly embrace the container as shown in Fig. 1.

Vertical rows of relatively spaced bristles 34 extend outwardly from the outer face of the bristle back and will be formed from plastic such as polyethylene so as to be pliable so as to function as bristles.

The entire brush component may be formed by moulding from polyethylene and arranged so that the container may be firmly embraced while the bristles will be of such shape and dimensions as to have the desired pliability.

The device shown in Fig. 1 may be held in the hand and the cap 16 opened for dispensing shampoo liquid following which in the same hand the brush may be utilized in the shampooing operation.

When the brush is removed from the container, as in Fig. 2, the four fingers of the hand may he slipped between the portions 24 and 26 and over the portion 22 and the brush manipulated in a convenient manner.

The transverse width of portion 22 of the brush and that of the front face of the container are substantially the same or sufl'iciently alike as to form a neat appearance and provide a container having a brush face.

The invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the essential characteristics thereof. Hence, the present embodiments are therefore to be considered in all respects merely as being illustrative and not as being restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claim rather than by the foregoing description, and all modifications and variations as fall within the meaning and purview and range of equivalency of the appended claim are therefore intended to be embraced therein.

What it is desired to claim and secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

A shampoo device including a container and a brush device separable therefrom, said container having imperforate front, rear, opposite side and lower and upper walls, an elongated outlet neck extending outwardly from said upper wall intermediate said side walls provided with a closure, said brush being formed from relatively thin plastic material to have a bristle support on the front Wall of the container and lower and upper wall portions, said lower wall portion extending rearwardly from the bristle support underlying the lower wall of the container and terminating in a lip extending upwardly and disposed on the rear wall of said container, said upper wall portion extending rearwardly from said bristle support provided with a neck receiving recess forming side portions overlying the upper wall of the container at opposite sides of the neck and terminating in downwardly extending lips overlying the rear Wall of the container, and said bristle support provided with relatively spaced bristles integral therewith and extending outwardly therefrom.
