To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that l, EDMON R. IoIRmn, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city and county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new anduseful Improvements in Bath and Massage Brushes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a bath brush, and particularly pertains to a flexible bath brush adapted for use in bathing and massage.

It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a flexible bath brush formed with means whereby it may be conveniently used to rub the back of the per son using the brush and to be readily adapted for use as a flexible hand brush, which will easil conform to the contour of the body sur ace over which the brush is passflhe present invention contemplates the use of a flexible backing, upon which sets of brush bristles are secured, said backing having a hand strap across the center thereof and being fitted at its opposite ends with attaching means for extension straps which may be used when bathing the back.

The invention is] illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a fragmentary view in perspective, showing the completely assembled brush with parts broken away for the sake of convenience.

Fig. 2 is a view in perspective, showing the brufi used on the hand, and further disclosing the manner in which it may flexibly conform to the contour of the surface to which it is applied.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 10 indicates a flexible backing, here shown as formed of a sheet of flexible webbing or any other desired material of a similar nature, such as leather, rubber or canvas. Secured transversely of the back and in parallel relation to each other is a plucality of brush unitsll; each of these units comprising sets of bristles 12 carried by a bristle board 13. These boards are here shown as being made of wood and may, if desired, be formed of any other suitable material. The opposite ends of these boards are secured to the backing by means of fastening elements, such as the rivets 14. The opposite ends of the webbing 10 are folded over and receive snap fasteners 15, for a.

Extending transversely of the webbing, and across the other side from that on which the bristles are fastened, is a'hand strap 16, which may be used, as indicated in Fig. 2.

The fasteners 15, disposed at the opposite ends of the webbing 10, are provided to receive extension straps 17. These straps conveniently permit the brush to be used when applied to the back of the user, and the opposite ends of the straps are fitted with rings 18, by which the straps may be more secure y gras ed.

These ends extend through the loop formed by the hand strap 16, and will lie within the palm of the hand of the person using the brush, as indicated in. Fig. 2. Attention is directed to the fact that the rigid bristle boards 13 are spaced a short distance from each other, thus making it possible for the webbing to flex between the sets of bristles and thereby insuring that the separate sets of bristles may have a desired flexible independent) movement, which will permit them to conform to any surface over which the brush is passed.

It will thus be seen that the invention here disclosed provides a simple and durable human body as well as conforms to the contour of the surface over which it is pass-- While I have shown the preferred form of my invention as now known to me it is to he understood that various changes might be made in the combination, construction and arrangement of parts by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1.
