TOOTHBRUSH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patent ed Feb. 3, 1920.
Application filed February 12, 1917, Serial No. 148,167. Renewed June 19, 1919. Serial No; 305,392.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NICHOLAS LAUDIERO, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toothbrushes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilledin the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in sanitary tooth brushes and consists of a simple and eflicient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements ofarts which will be hereinafter fully descri ed, shown in the accom anying drawings and-then specifically de ned in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a side elevation of my sanitarv brush.
Fig. 2 is a face view.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view throuoh the same.
Fig. 4 is a section on line 44 of Fig. 3.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a handle having a brush holding end which is recessed as at B, the walls of the recess being undercut to be engaged bv the oppo-, slte edges of the brush D to hold the same in place. Said brush is provided with a notch E upon one face thereof, and F is a movable clamping plate which is apertured as at I for the reception of a screw K and said screw is adapted to receive a nut N to hold the plate in clamping. relation with thebrush. The inner face of said plate F has a transverse rib '0 adapted to engage the notch in the brush to hold the same from longitudinal movement. A ring, designated by letter L, is mounted to have a sliding movement upon a contracted portion of the handle and, when in a locking relation, en-
gages over the clamping plate in the manner shown in solid lines in Fig. l of the drawings.
, By the provision of a sanitary tooth brush made in accordance with my invention, it will be noted that a simple and eflicient device is aflorded which will make it possible to easily and quickly remove the brush fo cleansing or for other purposes.
What I claim to be new is In a tooth brush, a handle one end of the handle being recessed to provide a brush holding portion, a brush positioned in the brush holding portion of the handle, said brush having a notch adjacent one end thereof, a clamping plate pivotally connected intermediate its length,.,to the under side of the handle, the pivot ohsaid clamping plate being remote from the brush, a rib formed adjacent one end of the clamping plate and engaging said notch, the opposite end of said clamping plate extending beyond the pivot, and lying flush with the handle and a securing ring on the handle adapted to lock the clamping plate to the handle.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
NICHOLAS LAUDIERO.
