Actually the programming is quite skillful. It would be easy to have it make random rolls like real dice. Harder to make it get just the rolls it needs like these "loaded" dice.

It is what it is. Everyone chill, loaded it on my start page and play everyday. Every time I need a quick break from whatever it's right there and five minutes later I've played another game. Sure there are much better games out there, but this one's free, it's always right there, and it beats killing birds.

reading the comments and never played this app before, I thought people were being harsh. gosh what a piece of junk. there is better places to play on the internet...go find them. the computer has no idea how to take pieces off, always rolls the right number and its tediously slow.

Its frustrating because I'm trying to track my wins/gammon percentage. But what can I really complain about when its free. Other than that complaint, I like the app and continue to play.

The game makes for a terrible back game strategy by frequently getting just the roll it needs. It can only come off the bar and hit my blot with a 2-6. I think "it's gonna roll a 2-6". It does. Then you can't get back in as you finally start rolling double 6s. Good points: It's free and you can quit without losing a point.

This game is really crappy! I understand that it is suppose to be a challenge, but come on now, give me a break, my whole family plays backgammon all the time and I am considered the backgammon queen! I always win! But this is very difficult! The computer gets whatever it needs, whenever it needs it! You can barely get your guys over to your home! HATE IT!!!! Don't bother!

I like the game a lot. I've had no problems with it. It often makes moves which I consider foolish, (but that's only my opinion). My current score is 27 wins, and 10 losses.

I have noticed it cheats too. Thought it was maybe just me seeing my tokens in the wrong place so I started writing down where all pieces were and quickly noting cpu throw then counting moves and quite often it had removed some of my pieces to the bar that it could not reach.

I think the game is good - they stepped up the difficulty recently making it more challanging. Just click new game if you don't like the way it is going to keep your win stats higher. Just saying.

yea this game is bs. It gets exactly what it needs and moved where ever it wants. It rolled double 4's and moved 5 points to hit my checker. Deleted..cause it sucks.

All of a sudden the board is not showing up on my screen when i "click to play" the game...Ive tried to delete and re-add this game to my homepage..What do i do??

As another poster pointed out, the game cheats and often makes moves for itself that are more advantageous than the numbers it rolled. That being said, it doesn't play very intelligently either and is therefore very easy to beat. It will often leave pieces exposed on it's inner board that are easy to hit when coming in from the bar.

It counts on the fact that it doesn't show you which of its own pieces it is moving to where with which die, nor does it leave the computer's roll on screen for long enough. All you see is the outcome, so I started concentrating really hard on where all the computer's pieces were at the end of each of my turns and then watched what it rolled and what the outcome was. Lo & behold, when it rolled a 4 and a 3, which would leave it no choice but to leave a single piece on one of the points - it did not move 4 and 3 but 4 and 6, which conveniently left all of its pieces nice and protected. I've deleted it now, there is no fun or satisfaction in playing it.

Yes, it does play backgammon, but the UI is very simple (e.g. no support for single-click playing), it doesn't feature the doubling cube which makes the game twice as fun, and if you've ever played against a neural-net based backgammon (try bgblitz or GnuBG), you don't want to play against this rather weak opponent.

The game was 90% over, I was narrowly in the lead ... and the screen refreshed, wiping out the game. Very frustrating! Please fix this. The same thing used to happen with the Flood-it game, but you managed to stop it.

The iGoogle page keeps refreshing itself and it's very annoying - it does this even in the middle of playing, which means you lose your game. Also, some of the game features don't work. I added Backgammon to my page but I can never play it because the lower half of the game is never visible! The 'White', 'Black', 'Roll dice' and "New' can't be seen! Also, in games like Tetris, you can't turn the pieces so you can never play a proper game. In the real Tetris, you can turn the pieces with the spacebar. I've taken lots of games off my page and stopped adding any now - it's pointless.

In case you haven't noticed, Anon Jan 19, opening a new page to play the game (which we're now forced to do, unlike previous versions) does not "overcome the problem of the iGoogle page refreshing itself." Unfortunately, not only does this newly-opened playing page ALSO refresh, but it refreshes back to the homepage/original tab! Why can't we just play it to begin with from the homepage/original tab, then, like prior versions? And, funny, I actually beat the computer more now, but like I've said before, that's often because I play not how I want to, but based on how I know this game is going to favor itself and cheat---not in any way as fun. It still is heavily self-biased. And, yes, through the months since the major changes, there are many non-functioning days now, as others have also mentioned. Please, please change, LabPixies.

I'm guessing the reason it opens to a new page when you click "play game" is to overcome the problem of the iGoogle page refreshing itself, which it does to update all the gadgets and RSS feeds, but which also makes the game restart which has been a frequent pain. But the update has clearly either made the computer a much better player, or, as others have said, a downright cheat. I used to beat the old version most of the time - now it's almost impossible to win. Suspiciously, when it's a close race to the finish, guess who gets all the doubles???

Yesterday I noticed the new version, and did get used to it throughout the day (although I kept accidentally clicking New Game instead of Roll Dice since it's near where the previous Roll Dice was!). But today the new version won't work, it only half loads and I can't play it. Please either bring back the old version or make the new version work again!
